TSX / Translate X
Translation, native to Mac. Selected text, screenshots, and the words you type—all in one quiet workspace.
Free forever · MIT open source · Version 1.2.1
Requires macOS 15 or later. Download the signed and notarized DMG from GitHub, then drag TSX into Applications.
Use a shortcut to translate selected text without leaving your reading flow.
Select an area of your screen. Text recognition runs on your Mac, then your chosen service translates the text.
Type or edit in either pane. Adjust languages and keep working with the translation in front of you.
Start with Apple translation, or configure supported translation APIs and compatible models with your own credentials.
Your text, your choice
Apple translation is the default; language downloads may be needed. Screenshot recognition runs locally. If you choose an external translation service, the text and instructions needed for the request are sent to that service under its own policies.
TSX has no Lumax account or cloud history. Translation text and screenshots are not saved as history. Optional local usage records contain request numbers and timings, not your text, and can be disabled or cleared. API keys are kept in macOS Keychain; optional account sign-in uses separate local credential storage.
Update checks connect to this website; installer downloads use GitHub. The app checks at launch; automatic downloading, installation, and restart are opt-in. These requests expose ordinary connection information, such as IP address and app version, to the hosting providers; no translation text is included.
